We are located at the bend of the island as it heads east...click here for a map of the island. Our street address is 1216 E. Arctic Ave. The famous "Washout" surfing spot is just a 2 "groin" beach stroll to the east. Here you can watch frequent east coast surfing contests and plenty of "beach scenery" ! Our island is only 6 miles long and maybe a mile wide with a county park at the west end and the renowned Morris Island Lighthouse and old abandoned Coast Guard property at the east end. Our beach is a lovely place to ride bikes and walk dogs at low tide when the beach becomes very wide. The dolphins can be seen frequently -almost daily- frolicking as close as the nearest breaking wave. At the center of our island is the business district- just one main street called Center Street-it is about 4 blocks long. There you will find everything from beachy knic-knacs to 3 star dining to "get down and crazy" beach bars. At the ocean on the end of Center St. is the Folly Beach pier-an amazing engineering and architectural sight to be seen and enjoyed. We are just 1 1/2 miles from the pier-----a great beach walk or bike ride away. Here you can fish for mackerel, watch more surfers if the waves are right, and enjoy Sunday afternoon live music in the summertime on the Holiday Inn portico beside the pier. Also here are opportunities to parasail, jet ski, play volleyball, sail or kayak----some seasons may not offer all of these activities. |
Welcome to Folly ! ! !
